The BSKT brand started in 2013 at the Gold Coast popular health food hub BSKT Cafe, founded by Gold Coast Titans team mates Greg Bird and Selasi Berdie. During this time the BSKT Wholefoods brand was started with cafe patrons wanting to experience the healthy options from the cafe at home. After many successful years with BSKT Cafe and the Titans, both boys moved onto having families and selling the cafe but kept providing “delicious justice” through Vegan Chocolates and Granolas across Australian health food retailers.
When former team mate and close friend Ryan James started his charity foundation the Ryan James Group which has a core focus of helping local Indigenous communities with health and working opportunities, it inspired the birth of BSKT Native, which aims to promote circular economies in the Indigenous community.
My mob is Bundjalung and I grew up in Carool, Bilambil. Before mum moved into the hills behind Tweed Heads, our mob lived in Fingal, so our totem is the barbed stingray as it’s related to the Fingal inlet and we are salt water people. Our Bundjalung Dreamtime stories tell of the Three Brothers arriving by boat from the centre of the Earth and settling our lands.
I’m an Anaiwan (Anewan) man who grew up on Wonnarua country in Maitland. I always knew I was Aboriginal but I knew very little about my ties to the land as our family history was taboo and rarely talked about. Through extensive research and mob opening up about the past, I’ve thankfully been able to piece together enough information to find a little peace. Unfortunately my story’s not uncommon, and the efforts to find out more are ongoing.
I’m a descendant of the Ewe people, which call the soils of Ghana, West Africa home. The Ewe people have long inhabited the Volta Region of Ghana in which the Volta Lake connects the tribe to water. For centuries the Ewe people have used the powers of the ocean to forge wellbeing and prosperity.

We love our special little corner of the earth right here on the Gold Coast, and as such make every single product in our backyard. We also source ingredients from local farmers wherever possible. The Indigenous ingredients we use are endemic to our local ranges and environment.
